As we all know there are multiple prophecies regarding the birth of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament but have you realized that some of these prophecies are also related to Mother Mary.

Mother Mary plays a prominent role as she facilitated the birth of Jesus Christ into this world through her obedience and faithfully fulfilled the role of the divine Mother of God with much humility, suffering and forbearance. So it should be of no surprise the ancient prophets prophesied about the Messiah’s Mother.

The Woman in Genesis:

In the Garden of Eden, after the forbidden fruit was eaten causing the fall of humanity, God the Father rebukes Satan saying “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and your seed and her seed: she will crush your head, and you will lie in wait for her heel” (Genesis 3:15). Here Mother Mary is referenced as the “woman” and the mission of Mary is laid out. Mary will oppose the enemy and in union with the Messiah (‘her seed’), the head of the enemy will be crushed!

The Virgin:

The Lord spoke to Ahaz through the prophet Isaiah, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14). Immanuel means God is with us and refers to our Lord, Jesus Christ. The child bearing virgin is Mother Mary and the virgin birth of Messiah is the sign which God promises the House of David.

The Mother of Messiah:

“But you, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, least among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me, one who is to be ruler in Israel; whose origin is from of old, from ancient times. Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time when she who is to give birth has borne, then the rest of his kindred shall return, to the children of Israel. He shall take his place as shepherd, by the strength of the LORD, by the majestic name of the LORD, his God; and they shall dwell securely, for now his greatness shall reach to the ends of the earth, He shall be peace.” (Micah 5:2-3)

This passage from Micah also references to Jesus Christ the Messiah and how he will redeem the House of Israel. This prophetic passage indicates Messiah will be the everlasting ruler of Israel, will be a shepherd to his people, will rule by the strength of the Lord, and will be the prince of peace. It is interesting to note that the Mother of Messiah is also mentioned in this prophetic passage. All these promises are set to happen when Mother Mary brings forth her child into this world.
