The mystery of the Most Blessed Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life!

To whom was this mystery first revealed!

The doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity was first revealed to Mother Mary. Angel Gabriel was sent from God to announce the birth of Jesus to Mother Mary and Gabriel revealed “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God (Luke 1:35)”. This message from God, delivered by the angel to Mother Mary unfolds the Trinitarian mystery. The person of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is revealed along with the divine nature of Trinity. It is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds [CCC 254].

The Holy Trinity is then revealed to the world during the baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove on Jesus and the Father’s voice proclaims:  “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (Mathew 3:17)

The resurrected Jesus again reveals the Triune nature of God when he commissions the apostles to make disciples of all nations: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Mathew 28:19)
